New Voters Project Overview

The New Voters Project is a nonpartisan, grassroots effort to mobilize young voters for the November 2004 elections. The New Voters Project is working in six states, including Colorado, to turn out 100,000 new 18-24 year-old voters in November.

Nationally, only 36% of young voters participated in the 2000 presidential election; in Colorado, only 30% of 18-24 year-olds went to the polls that year. NVP is committed to reengaging young people in democracy, and in turn holding our elected officials accountable to the needs and interests of our generation.

Here at CSU, we are working towards this goal by aiming to register 7,500 new student voters and turning out 4,000 new voters to the polls in November. We welcome you to join our effort!

The New Voters Project is sponsored by COPIRG and the National Association of State Public Interest Research Groups, the Center for Public Interest Research, George Washington University, and the Pew Charitable Trusts.
